Think Before You Act

Think+Before+You+Act

An emotional presentation was delivered Thursday, November 7, by Mike Wojcik to the students of Saint John Vianney. Wojcik, unable to speak, had his father Rich serve as his voice during the presentation.

Wojcik’s presentation was focused on the message of making good decisions; he communicated this by telling the story of his accident in 2008 when he decide to ride on an ATV with his friend while they were both under the influence of alcohol. Wojcik, a successful college wrestler, was put into a coma for three months after suffering two strokes and numerous fractures. When Wojcik woke up, doctors told him he would probably never be able to walk, talk, eat, have the ability to learn, or remember anything for the rest of his life.

On Thursday, Wojcik was defying the odds in the SJV gym as he told students to treat every day like a gift; at one point, asking the entire audience to get up and scream. Mike was optimistic and a bit of joker during the Q&A session that followed, answering questions about his feelings towards the driver of the ATV, his ex-girlfriend, and his future.
