SJVs Latino Club Collects Items for Ronald McDonald House

Saint John Vianney’s Latino Club is collecting items for the Ronald McDonald house in Long Branch, New Jersey. They are collecting items such as diapers, wipes, D batteries, paper towels, and plastic silverware to donate to this charity from February 16 to 26.

The Ronald McDonald house offers a “home away from home” for families with very sick kids while they are going through treatments at nearby medical facilities. They ask for $10 a night per family, but they will not turn a family away if they cannot pay. They rely on donations to help keep their houses running, which is why they are so thankful to organizations such as SJV’s Latino club.

“We started doing collections for this charity four years ago. One of my student’s had a nephew that was staying there and she saw how many things they needed.” said Ms. Caledonia, moderator of the Latino club. “It is a great organization because they help children and families that are in need. They take in everyone, any nationality or religion, they don’t care. They do a great job at making the families feel like are at home.”

The club will be collecting items until February 26. Even after this collection is over, the Ronald McDonald house always accepts individual donations. It is a great cause and everyone is welcome to lend a helping hand.
