Taylor Swift’s Shaking It Off with a New Album

Julia Aleo, Writer

On August 18th, 2014  at 5pm Miss Taylor Swift hosted a Yahoo Live stream party from the top of the empire state building. People from all around the world tuned to hear what she had to tell us about her upcoming album. The first thing Swift revealed to us was her new single, “Shake It Off.” This song is completely different then what she’s ever released, because it is completely pop.

Swift also revealed that her new album will be 100% pop, not a combination of pop-country like her previous albums. This album is inspired by 80’s pop, and will be named 1989. (Also happens to be the year she was born.) 1989 will drop October 27th.

Swift showed us her new album cover, which is a Polaroid picture. When you purchase a physical album, each will have a pack of 13 Polaroid pictures in it. There are 5 different packs, so each time you buy an album you have a chance of getting a different pack!

Finally, Swift showed us a new music video to go along with this new sound. The “Shake It Off” music video was completely different than others. Swift hired professional dancers and she dressed up and danced (Not too swiftly) in the middle of them. It was quite comical and entertaining.

Both the single and music video are available on itunes to buy. “Shake It Off” has been on the top of the charts ever since it came out! You can pre order the album on itunes and the physical album (including the Polaroid packs!) are available on the Taylor Swift website. There are also pre-order packs that have new merchandise with the album.
