Homemade Christmas Gifts

Homemade Christmas Gifts

As December nears Christmas cheer begins to fill the air, which means family, friends, faith, and gifts! Especially around the holidays, people like to show their love towards others through the giving of gifts. When others take the time to make homemade gifts, the recipients feel the love and thought that was put into the making of the gift. Here are some ideas for homemade gifts to give to family and friends to show your love this holiday season.

1. Personalized Phone Case

You can buy a plain phone case and add special quotes or sayings with your own decorations. Adding feathers, beads, and sparkles to the case make it stand out from others.

2. Sponge Art

Take a sponge or two and cut it out into letters spelling some type of saying or phrase. Taking the sponges, dip them in paint and press them against a canvas or piece of paper into whatever pattern you would like.

3. Beaded Jar

Take a glass jar and place beads of whatever shape and color you chose, and glue them to the jar.

4. Opaque Striped Vase

Take a glass and place rubber bands around it. Then take spray paint and spray the glass. Once dry, take the rubber bands off and you are done.

5. Clothespin Pot

Take two clean tuna cans, one must be smaller than the other and must be able to fit inside the other can. Take the larger can and claps clothespins around the entire can. Do the same thing with the smaller can and then place the smaller can inside the bigger can. You have completed your clothespin pot. You can color the clothespins to add a pop of color. You can use your newly made pot for plants or candles.

6. Magazine Message

Cut out letters from magazines to form a message. Place the letters out on the canvas to get an idea of how it is going to look. Then take a small section and move the letters aside. Place Mod Podge under it, and press the letters back on the section. Repeat this step until all of the letters are stuck to the canvas. Then put Mod Podge over the letters to give a coating to reduce rips and tears.

7. Crayon Candles

Buy an empty jar with a wick in the middle. Melt any color crayons you would like and pour them into the empty jar. Melting red, green, and white would make a Christmas themed candle.

8. Festive Jar

Take a jar and place basic shape stickers on the outside of the jar and spray paint over the outside. Remove the stickers and place a candle inside the jar. Using Christmas tree stickers and red or green spray paint make a Christmas themed jar.
