Animal Cruelty is sadly a growing epidemic in today’s society. It is estimated that a quarter of a million animals are abused each year, and it takes true hero’s to take a stand to stop animal cruelty. The Give a Dog A Home Foundation of San Antonio Texas is taking a stand, along with the help of Mrs. Butala and two of her students.

When Tyler Ford and Zacharias Dejene, two junior students at SJV, heard about the GADAH Foundation from their teacher, Mrs. Butala, they knew right away that they wanted to help. “Mrs. Butala told me that there were dogs in need of surgery,” Dejene said. “After hearing that Tyler and I knew what we had to do.” Ford and Dejene then went to cousins, family, neighbors, friends, and classmates, asking them for donations to benefit GaDaH, and in just two short months raised $407 dollars. Ford and Dejene presented the money to Mrs. Butala to give to Jenny, the founder of the GaDaH foundation. When Jenny received the money, she was overtaken by the boys’ kindness. “I and I know I speak on behalf of ALL of Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue thank both ZACH and TYLER, and of course their amazing teacher Stephanie, for being the people that you are, for having the hearts that you do, and for letting GaDaH have a home in your heart,” Jenny wrote to Dejene and Ford.

Butala has done a lot for this foundation also, and a dog was named after her. “STEPHIE, named after the amazing teacher and pack person in New Jersey who keeps her awesome students updated on the GaDaH pack,” Jenny wrote to Butala. Jenny also named the two boys Give a Dog a Home, German Shepard’s Dog Reuse’s own” New Jersey State HERO’s.” Jenny also named the two dogs after the boys.

“After hearing about the condition these dogs are in, I’m so happy we raised enough money to save both,” shared Ford.  Jenny attached pictures and descriptions of what these dogs looked like before they go through their treatments. “It turns out that our saved GSDs were very much in need of saving. ZACH has several breaks to his pelvis, it is detached from his spine, his left rear leg is paralyzed, he is incontinent and he has heart-worm disease. TYLER just a puppy, literally skin and bone, starving on the cold wet streets of San Antonio, skin infection, his feet look dis-jointed and he was brutally kicked several times by two school kids because he was following them,” Jenny wrote. “ZACH and TYLER are the most fitting names for these two German Shepherds that are now in our care and will be getting all treatment needed to get them healthy, happy and of course pain free.”  This is all possible through the money that was raised by Dejene and Ford.
