To everyone one else in America, summer vacation has just ended and normal life has resumed. However, for Congress, another holiday is in order. Members of Congress have just returned from a five week summer break. Nevertheless, through a joint resolution passed Sept 19, both the House and the Senate have been adjourned for another seven weeks. This is all taking place in the midst of a heated conflict surrounding the Islamic Militant group otherwise known as ISIS or ISIL.

Many members of Congress disagree with this motion saying the American people need their government to present to make important decisions. This notion is very true. The state of the country as a whole is not where it should be. Certain foreign conflicts prevent Americans from feeling completely safe within their own homes. Congress needs to remain in session in case a problematic situation arises.

Of course there must be some important reason for this seemingly unnecessary break. Perhaps the motivation for this is the fact that it is reelection season and parties want to focus on making sure their candidates remain in office. It just goes to show where everyone’s priorities are.
