There are a number of new musicals set to hit the Great White Way this 2016-2017 season. Some of the most highly anticipated musicals are “Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812,” Holiday Inn,” “A Bronx Tale,” and “Miss Saigon.”

Josh Groban is making his broadway debut in “Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812”, which also stars Denée Benton. It is a musical based on an excerpt from Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel, War and Peace. It follows the story of Natasha, who develops a relationship with a rebel, Anatole, while her fiancé, Andrey, is off at war. The affair diminishes her position in society, and her only hope for her redemption lies in her fiancé’s friend, Pierre. Previews begin Oct. 18 and it opens Nov. 14 at the Imperial Theater.

The iconic 1942 movie “Holiday Inn” is coming to Broadway. This musical stars Bryce Pinkham, Lora Lee Gayer, and Corbin Bleu. It tells the story of a man named Jim who moves away from the show business into a Connecticut farmhouse. There, he meets a teacher named Linda who helps him turn his farmhouse into an inn that has performances that celebrate each holiday. Jim’s best friend notices Linda’s talent and tries to lure her away to Hollywood. Will Jim be able to save his chance at love? Previews began on Sept. 1 and it opens on Oct. 6 at Studio 54.

Another popular movie that is coming to the stage is “A Bronx Tale”. It stars Nick Cordero, Ariana DeBose, and Richard H. Blake. It is about a young man in the Bronx who wants to become a mob boss, but is caught between this aspiration and his love for his father.  Previews begin Nov. 3 and it opens Dec. 1 at the Longacre Theater.

The hit musical “Miss Saigon” is returning to Broadway. This production stars Eva Noblezada and Jon Jon Briones. Miss Saigon tells the story of the night that changes the lives of a Vietnamese bar girl and an American marine. Previews begin Mar. 1 and it opens Mar. 23 at the Broadway Theater.

In addition to these, other shows opening this season include “The Cherry Orchard,”The Front Page,”Falsettos,” and “Dear Evan Hansen.” This upcoming season on Broadway has a variety of musicals that are surely going to be hits!
