Friday, Oct., 16 the St. John Vianney ran over the Raritan High School football team for a 56-26 homecoming win.

Led by senior wide receiver Michael Stapert and junior running back Chris Chukwuneke with a whopping total of 36 points combined, the SJV football team took no prisoners under the bright lights. “Look good, feel good, play good,” said senior slot receiver Khalil Haskins when asked how he felt about the upcoming game.

Lancers and Rockets rivalry has always had a strong presence on social media. “I’m the realest number 1 on the field,” said SJV’s Chukwuneke on twitter. Throughout the week leading up to the big game, players were exchanging words on twitter and other social media. Raritan’s own athletic director added himself into the mix of twitter by tweeting a picture that read, “Slam the door on the Lancers”. For SJV, the players made their words into actions on the field.

Quarterback Anthony Brown had 108 rushing yards for himself while star Raritan running back Derek Ernst was held to 63. With six receptions, SJV wide receiver Jeff Sheard added 83 receiving yards to Stapert’s 147 yards.

SJV rocketed to yet another win into the season with high hopes of more to come.
