On Feb. 23, the Saint John Vianney Boys Basketball Team added a new member to the 1000 point club. Old Bridge native Grant Goode, scored 19 points in the team’s win over Barringer High School 62-55. This became another memorable night for the team and for the senior forward as well.

Goode became the sixth player to join this elite group and the second to do so this season for the Lancers basketball team. “This was one of the most special days throughout my career at SJV,” said Goode.

Goode hasn’t decided on his college choice, but he sure has plenty of options to choose from. “I have been getting a lot of calls and handwritten letters from Division I and II coaches. The schools that I’m considering are East Stroudsburg, Hampton, Morgan State, Georgian Court, Wagner, and Rutgers.”

Goode’s four-year basketball experience at Saint John Vianney has been a gratifying one. “It was a good four years and being a starter for three made it even better.”

He plans to continue his senior season strong as the final stretch approaches. “I hope to win the next few games and maybe get a few upsets in States.”

Although basketball is his personal favorite, Goode also enjoys many other activities as well. “In my off-time, I like to play video games and collect sneakers. I’m also a big NBA 2K player, and I strongly believe that I’m the best in the world.”
