With 2017 coming to a close, sports lovers are looking forward to the Super Bowl, politicians are anticipating elections, but as for theatregoers, they are awaiting the new season of Broadway shows that are set to debut. The 2018 season will be filled with shows for people of all ages and different interests.

The St. James’s Theatre will melt the hearts of audience members when Disney’s beloved Frozen premieres in February. Cassie Levy is set to play the iconic role of Queen Elsa, and Patti Maurin will take on the role of Princess Anna. However, some fans have already seen the production as the show is currently in previews in Denver. If you have not gotten your tickets yet, you will want to soon as it is already sold out until June!

The cult-classic Mean Girls will be taking over Broadway on April 8 at the August Wilson Theatre. In fact, Tina Fey, who wrote the script for the musical and the film it is based on, was selling cheese fries earlier this month to promote the new musical. The cast is filled with Broadway veterans, such as Erika Henningsen, and actors making their Broadway debut, like Barrett Wilbert Weed. The new musical will be in previews in Washington D.C. from Oct. 31 to Dec. 3.

With all of the brand new musicals and plays arriving in the upcoming season, the Imperial Theatre is putting a twist on a classic with a revival of Roger and Hammerstein’s Carousel. Tony Award winner Jessie Muller and Hamilton star Joshua Henry are some of the familiar faces you will see in this production. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until April 12 to waltz your way to New York to see the production.

While you are “waiting for life” you should consider heading over to Broadway to see the new production of Once on This Island, directed by Tony Award Winner Michael Ardon. The revival cast includes Lea Salonga as Erzulie and Merle Dandridge as Papa Ge. Starting Dec. 3, when you enter the Circle in the Square, you will be transported to a tropical island. Will you join the cast in an adventure to find true love?

Broadway will be flooding with new musicals and plays in 2018. Which show are you going to see?
