Rumors have been lurking around the internet for months regarding a new iPhone and finally the new phones are here. On Sept. 9, Apple gave their annual keynote speech revealing a variety of new products including the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The 6S will be available in stores Sept. 25.

Apple promotes the new phone as “the only thing that’s changed is everything.” At a first look, the 6S looks exactly the same as the previous iPhone 6. Nothing has dramatically changed on the exterior of the phone beside a new addition to the color pallet. The phones are available in Space-Grey, Silver, Gold, and now Rose-Gold. It is the same length and width of the iPhone 6.

The biggest innovations are in the interior of the phone. Apple advertises that the new iPhone will have a longer battery life and faster LTE and Wi-Fi speeds. The new iPhone also comes with the biggest advancement in Apple’s technology, iOS 9. The new operating system is available as of Sept. 17.

iOS 9 brings an intuitive interface, a robust security system and powerful features, making it the best experience with your iPhone. The new system makes tasks simple and features shortcuts available on the home screen for things you do most frequently in applications. This operating system is even more innovative in the iPhone 6S.

One of the most dramatic advancements for iPhone is the new 3D Touch. The 6S features sensors underneath the screen that calculate the pressure of a touch. This will allow a user to display certain things in specific apps. For example, a more detailed preview of a text message can be seen by gently pressing the message within the app and a display will pop up with the text and conversation; then, pressing harder will open the entire message and conversation.

With pre-order available now, the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are quickly leaving the shelves and becoming Apple’s biggest success to date. The prices vary based on the carrier but start at $299. Overall, the new iPhones are the most innovative products and the most advanced phones on the market.
