SJV 2022 Varsity Lacrosse Season

Saint John Vianney’s Girls Lacrosse season has finally started. The girls have been practicing since March and are now deep into their Mid-Season. The varsity team consists of a tight-knit group of girls that push each other in hopes of reaching their full potential. The team is led by Coach DeFelice and senior captains Kelsey Nolan (defender) and Erin Schneider (attacker.)

The 2022 season of Saint John Vianney Girls Lacrosse looks different than last year’s, but the team has quickly adjusted to its adversities. The coaching staff has changed: the team’s head coach resigned last season and Coach DeFelice took over. Many of the top-scoring seniors graduated, leaving it to the underclassmen to step up.

So far the team has played against East Brunswick, Colts Neck, Holmdel, and Manasquan. In every game they were just short of the win, making their record 0-4. Senior captain Erin Schneider says, “During the first game it was a challenge to work together as a team, but as the season has progressed, we’ve all come to understand each other’s preference of play, and we are all pushing for some wins this season.” Hopefully, the team will soon conquer the field and take a win for the Lancers!
