Rocking and Rolling into the Hall of Fame

;On October 16th, 2013 the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee announced the 16 nominees for the 29th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Of the nominations, the top choices appear to be Nirvana and Deep Purple, which, Chuck Yarborough, of The Plain Dealer says are the most deserving of winning an induction. Deep Purple has been nominated before but this will be the very first year that the most known grunge band of the 90’s, Nirvana, has been nominated. “This year’s nominees represent the broad definition of ‘rock ‘n’ roll’ and include an array of artists whose fans are deeply passionate about the possibility of induction,” said Joel Peresman. The 15 other nominees range from classic rock to old school rap to American disco.

Since the year 2012, when the hall of fame first allowed it, fans can now vote for their favorite bands to be inducted, along with the other 600 people in the committee. The ceremony will take place in April 2014 in New York City.
