Do you realize how many people we pass in a day? Barely making any eye contact, taking for granted all of the little beautiful things life gives us.

After losing his job in Chicago, Brandon Stanton decided he wanted to bring this thought to life. Thus creating the one-of-a-kind photoblog “Humans of New York.”

Stanton always dreamed of being a photographer, and moving to New York City gave him an opportunity to do so. He started by just taking photos of normal people. The original thought was create a photo blog that would be organized by neighborhoods, and to be able to scroll through photos of people that lived in each specific neighborhood.

It ended up being much more than that.

Stanton started to take pictures of interesting people and things that they were doing. He would also have a short conversation, maybe asking the person few questions.

He would then take a quote from the conversation that stuck out to him, and make it a caption onto the photo that was taken. This is how the famous blog, “Humans of New York” was born.

This blog was also turned into a book, which has become a number on NYT bestselling book.
