D.I.Y. Valentines Day Gifts

One of the most loved and hated holidays of the year is Valentine’s Day. Loved by couples and hated by every lonely person in the world. The following do it yourself Valentine’s Day gift ideas can be for you to give to your valentine. Whether it’s a boyfriend or girlfriend, your best friend, your family, or even make them for yourself if you don’t have a Valentine this year. These are just a few quick gifts to show someone that you love and appreciate them.

  1. Sweet Heart Cupcakes

This can be made two different ways. Either chose a chocolate batter or a red velvet batter. Make the cupcakes like normal and stop before putting the icing on. After taking the cupcakes out of the oven, let them cool to begin the next step. If you chose to make chocolate brownies, cup off the top of the cupcake and put it aside. Then take red or pink frosting and ice the cupcake. Going back to the top of the cupcake, take a heart shaped cutter and press it into the top. Place the full top back on the cupcake and, if desired, sprinkle powdered sugar over the cupcake. If you chose the red velvet batter, do all the same steps at the chocolate cupcake, except instead of using pink or red frosting, use cream cheese. Also, taking the heart cutouts and placing frosting in between two of them make a cute Valentine’s Day cupcake sandwich.

  1. 52 Things I Love About You

Taking a normal deck of playing cards, punch 2 holes in each card so a ribbon or tie can go through and connect all the cards after you are done. Take one card and make it your cover card. You can decorate this card however you would like, but make sure “52 Things I Love About You” goes somewhere on the front. After that write one thing on each card that you love about whomever you are giving this gift to. Decorations and stickers definitely make this gift much more personalized. After you finished writing your 52 things, take a ribbon, tie, or whatever you like and run it through the holes and tie it into a bow.

  1. Silly, Short Internet Valentines

This gift is for that special person that has an obsession with a TV show, movie, or play. Let’s say your Valentine loves One Direction. You would just go on Google and type in “One Direction Valentine cards.” There are thousands of valentines that you can print out or email to that special someone. And if they don’t have any specific interests, you can just some general quirky valentines.

  1. Decorative Mug and Candy

This gift is pretty simple. You can either get just one white mug for your Valentine or you can get two white mugs so you can have one also. If you chose to get one mug, you can take a sharpie and decorate whoever you want, if you want to put a saying one it like “You’re Special” then put hearts and stars. After you finished drawing, either place a bag of Valentine’s Day themed candy in it or a bag of their favorite candy. If you chose to get two mugs, I suggest either doing half a heart on your mug and half a heart on your valentine’s mug so that way when you put them together they form a full heart. You can also make them into “His and Hers” mugs if you are making this gift for your boyfriend or girlfriend. You can also put a bag of candy into the mug you are giving away.

  1. Hooked on You Since…

This gift is designated as a couple gift. Taking any size mason jar, put any type of candy you prefer in it and close the top. Then take a piece of paper to fit on the front of your mason jar, and write “Been hooked on you since ______.” Fill the blank with whatever date your anniversary is. You can also draw a fish and a hook just to make it a little bit cheesier.
