On Thursday, Feb. 18, SJV put on their annual talent show featuring several different performers. This event was open to all friends and family of the school, and the turnout was incredible.

The show consisted of twenty-five acts, and all of them were musical except for one. Christina McLaughlin gifted the audience with the chance to listen to some of her original poetry. Malisa Yin also switched it up and played a guzheng, which is a traditional Chinese instrument.

One of the most loved performances of the night was Ava Valentino, who earned herself an honorable mention when she won over the crowd with a beautiful cover of “Time to Say Goodbye” which she dedicated to her parents. Dan Lodrago, Rob Kowalski, and Pete Fenske also performed an incredible original song called “Snow Daze” and they announced their album “Zero” which is to be released on Feb. 29.

The judges were Mrs. Gilmartin, Ms. Figler, and Mrs. Deatherage. They gave their feedback on performances and after deliberating, they picked three winners. Each of the winners received a cash prize of fifty dollars, seventy-five dollars, or one-hundred dollars. In 3rd place was Sam Magistre, who nailed “Rain on my Parade” and blew us all away. Deena Alberti and Gary Frost deserved their spot in 2nd place when they harmonized together on “Say Something.” Dan Lodrago and Pete Fenske won 1st place with a cover of “If I’m Lucky” and stunned the crowd with their talent.

The show would not have gone smoothly without the help of Mr. McKenna, Emily Olsen, and Christine Church. Everyone that participated did an excellent job and should be extremely proud.
