Is it Time for the Knicks to Let Woodson Go?

The New York Knickerbockers are currently in their worst slump of the season, going 2-8 in their last 10 games. Now, their overall record is 21-36 and frankly the Knicks fans aren’t impressed. Compared to last season the Knicks had an overall record of 54-28 which landed them the 2nd seed in the eastern conference. They beat the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs which made history for the Knicks because they haven’t won a playoff series in the prior 13 years while making 4 playoff appearances.

In the middle of the 2011-2012 season, the Knicks fired their head coach, Mike D’Antoni who just couldn’t use the team to the best of their ability. That’s when Mike Woodson took over and got the Knicks to sneak into the playoffs as the 7th seed, where they went against the Celtics in the first round. Unnfortunately the Knicks got swept by the Celtics 4-0 and their season was over, but fans still loved the idea of Mike Woodson as the head coach. So Woodson was kept as the head coach for the 2012-2013 season, where he shined with the Knicks all season. At some points during that season, the Knicks couldn’t lose as they went on multiple game win streaks, with the longest being 13 games. He took the Knicks who were a failing in the 2012 season and transformed them into a 2nd seed defensive minded team in a matter of 2 seasons.

But now, the Knicks have been failing miserably in this 2013-2014 season. Their defense is failing them when they need to win important games and numerous distractions are causing the Knicks to lose focus. This is the time in the season when the Knicks need to make a big push for the playoffs and with the way this season is playing, the Knicks look like they won’t make the playoffs. Fans are all blaming Woodson for the failure of this season because they have lost numerous games due to his decisions. So the question still remains, is it time for a new Knicks head coach?
