SJV’s Successful Homecoming Game

SJV's Successful Homecoming Game

During this past friday’s Homecoming game at Saint John Vianney High School, Chris Chukwuneke rushed for over 200 yards and five touchdowns to lead SJV to their 42-3 win over Monmouth Regional.  This win also awarded SJV with their third consecutive Shore Conference A-Central Division Title. This undefeated team is set to take on Camden Catholic on Saturday, Nov. 12 in their first playoff game of the 2016 season.

Halftime consisted of an amazing routine by the SJV dancers, as well as a parade to show off this year’s homecoming floats. Each grade level worked hard all throughout Spirit Week to create a float that followed the given theme. This year’s float themes were “Decades.” The seniors had the 1960s, juniors the 1980s, sophomores the 1950s, and freshman the 1920s.

The floats were presented at the game, and the juniors and seniors tied for best float. As the floats paraded around the track, they were followed by the Varsity Cheer and Dance teams, along with U.S. Veterans that were being honored that night. Alumni night also took place at the game. Alumni from years past came to SJV to support the football team. “I had a great time reconnecting with old friends and watching the Lancers take down Monmouth Regional. It really brought me back to high school,” said William McCloskey, a member of the graduating class of 1990. Homecoming night was overall a success. The students look forward to next year’s spirit week and game!
