For 89 years, the parade has been welcomed into the homes of millions across America as a way to celebrate the holiday season. SJV senior Jamie Galyas says, “Every year I always watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade with my family. It is definitely a tradition for us but also for a lot of families around America. It is always fun to watch the performances and the giant balloons on TV. My favorite balloon is Snoopy.”
“It has become a tradition in my family to get up, make breakfast and sit in front of the TV to watch the parade. We love seeing our favorite characters while eating our eggs!” Brendan Squitieri, also a senior, adds.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is a spectacle for people of all ages and a beloved family tradition for many. It has become a cultural symbol throughout America that Thanksgiving is here and Christmas is on its way.
