Pumpkin Carving Ideas
October 21, 2014
With Halloween comes many fun fall activities, but the best may be pumpkin picking and carving. After searching the patch for the perfect pumpkin, it’s time to carve it. Once you get all your supplies together, do you ever sit there and wonder to yourself “now what am I supposed to carve?” If so, here are a few simple ideas with awesome results.
1. Classic carved pumpkins
Celebrate Halloween with everyone’s favorite pumpkin look! Cut the top off your pumpkin and pull out all the seeds before carving a fun face. Complete the look with a lighten candle inside and put your jack-o-lantern on your front porch for everyone to see!
2. Scary pumpkin carvings
If you’re someone who enjoys the eeriness of Halloween, try one of these horrific looking pumpkins. Dedicate your pumpkin to your favorite horror film characters like Chucky, Scream, Freddy Krueger, or Jason from Friday the 13th. For those looking for a general fright, try carving zombies, ghosts, skeletons, spiders, or your own scary face
3. Children’s character pumpkins
Bring your favorite childhood movie character to life with these themed pumpkins that both children and adults alike will enjoy. You can buy stencils of every little girls’ favorite Disney princesses like Ariel, Cinderella, Snow While, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, and Tiana. If you’re carving a boy’s pumpkin, you can try for superheroes like Spiderman, Batman, and Superman. Young children may enjoy Mickey and Minnie Mouse or their favorite Sesame Street characters. If you’d like to stick with the Halloween theme, carve your pumpkins like Jack and Sally from the Nightmare before Christmas, or go for a wicked look with Disney villains Maleficent or Cruella De Vil. Other Disney characters like Olaf from Frozen, the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, and Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. can also be created.
4. Pop culture pumpkins
Carve your pumpkin after your favorite pop culture personas. If you’re a bookworm, you can try using stencils based after J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series or The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. If you’re someone who enjoys TV more, you can carve a symbolic person or object from your favorite movie or TV show. Those who are more into music can try music notes or the logo of your favorite band.
5. Carving-free pumpkins
If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy the pumpkin carving process, there are many alternate options, like buying craft store paint and painting your pumpkin. Feel free to add some sparkle with glitter paint or dress up your pumpkin with jewels and fun patterns. If you’re someone who prefers classic pumpkins, you can draw on faces with a black marker.
