Christmas is upon us! The countdown has officially started ever since we entered Advent on Sunday, December 1st. Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year! A very common Christmas tradition is to make cookies with the family, specifically sugar cookies. While delicious, they can get boring. If you want easy but show-stopping cookies to leave your family’s mouths watering, keep reading!
Hot cocoa is a fan-favorite drink to have with cookies during the holiday season, but have you ever tried a hot cocoa cookie? This is a dark chocolate cookie with a soft buttercream frosting whipped with hot cocoa packets (or homemade cocoa if you’re feeling fancy) and topped with marshmallows. This sweet treat is perfect for people who love hot cocoa and soft cookies!
Chocolate chip cookies are the most iconic and most loved cookie. But if you want to spruce up your traditional and basic chocolate chip cookies, add red and green M&M’s with crushed pretzels for a sweet, but also salty cookie. This cookie will be soft but complete with the pretzel crunch. These will leave your guests coming back for seconds and even thirds! If you want to be even more original, make the dough and bake it in a brownie pan for delicious cookie bars! Once fresh out of the oven, add a sprinkle of salt on the top of the cookies to cut the sweetness of the M&M’s and to bring out the salty pretzel flavor!
Peppermint is definitely the most delicious flavor during holiday times, but it’s even better baked into a cookie! Make a sugar cookie dough and add peppermint extract, crushed candy canes, and white chocolate chips for a delicious, sweet, and peppermint treat. If you want it to be slightly less sweet, make a dark chocolate dough and add the same ingredients.
Merry Christmas everyone and happy baking!!
