Spirit Week: From Dress Downs to Homecoming

Kelly Garcia, School News/Art, Music, Books Editor, Writer

It’s that time of year again! Embrace your Lancer pride this week during Spirit Week at Saint John Vianney High School. Each year, Spirit Week is filled with fun dress down themes each day for our students.

Our dress down themes this year are:

Monday: Comfy Cozy Day- This seems to be everyone’s favorite dress down day during Spirit Week. It’s perfect for a Monday when everyone is tired and wants to dress comfortable! Wear your favorite sweatpants, flannel, or even pajamas on Comfy Cozy Day, and you’ll fit in perfectly!

Tuesday: Twin Day- Grab your best friend or group of friends and dress alike on Tuesday. Whether you and your twin(s) wear a plain t-shirt and jeans, or you go full-out and dress exactly alike down to the socks, Twin Day is a fun day for everyone!

Wednesday: Support your favorite team and wear their jersey on Wednesday. It can be a college team or a professional team!

Thursday: Wear red, white, and blue and show your American pride on USA Day!

Friday: To wrap up Spirit Week, Friday is SJV Spirit Day. Students should wear black and gold, the SJV school colors, or school apparel.

Another fun event that SJV hosts to end Spirit Week with a bang is Homecoming! The Homecoming dance, which is being held on Thursday, October 5, is a dance for all grades! Complete with a DJ and buffet dinner, the SJV community is coming together on this night to have a great time.

The top it all off, on Friday, October 6, the SJV Lancers take on the Holmdel Hornets in the annual Homecoming game. This game will be a great time to watch, but there is even more to look forward to at this game. During half-time, each grade will present a float that they have been working on all throughout Spirit Week. The theme for the floats this year is childhood stories, and the teachers will vote on the best float when they are finished! May the best class win!
