As fall approaches and summer comes to an end we can find ourselves in a state of
seasonal depression. Not knowing what to do in the cold weather and sitting inside all of the time
can be draining. All over the country many people of all ages start to feel depressed due to the
weather and the stress of a new year. So how can we avoid seasonal depression and stay active
during the cold weather? To avoid seasonal depression you can consistently exercise, get fresh
air every day, stay social and hang out with your friends, eat healthy and make sure to drink
plenty of water. This should keep you lively and will keep you out and about without doing
anything too demanding. Even in the cold weather, it’s good to go out and talk to people. Simply
just talking to family members or friends every day can help to stay social. Overall, keeping a
healthy mindset is key to avoiding seasonal depression.
Although fall brings cold weather, the season also brings delicious foods, exciting
holidays like thanksgiving and halloween plus the months leading up to Christmas, many
different activities and most importantly pumpkin spice lattes. Some fall activities that anyone
can take part in include pumpkin picking, pumpkin carving, hayrides, apple picking, trying new
fall drinks, watching a scary movie and creating DIY halloween costumes. You could even just
spend a cozy night cuddled up in a blanket, watching a Halloween movie to feel the spirit of the
season. You could decorate your house and bedroom with spooky decor like bats and ghosts or
something a little more cozy like strings of leaves, pumpkins, candles and so much more.
Anything to keep you active and keep you in the spirit of the season helps you and all the people
around you to stay positive even with the death of summer.
