One date to Mark on your calendar this week is November 15, 2023. This day is very important to all of the “Hunger Games” fans across the world, the highly anticipated film “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is set to premiere. While we won’t be reuniting with the familiar faces of Katniss, Peeta, and Gale, the “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” promises to be a magnificent addition to the “Hunger Games” cinematic universe. The movie is a prequel meaning that it was set before the events of the original trilogy, this film takes us back to when Coriolanus Snow was a young mentor in the 10th Hunger Games. In the Trilogy as we know, Snow was a very cruel and evil man, and the head of the Games. In this movie we get to see Snow’s background and origin story.

The movie, directed by Francis Lawrence who also directed the previous films “Catching Fire” “Mockingjay Part 1 and 2” has promised us to bring his experience to the screen, telling us to get ready for a visually stunning and an emotional experience. The trailer entails that the movie will consist of Coriolanus Snow as he is tasked with mentoring District 12’s female tribute, Lucy Gray Baird. The story jumps into their relationship against the dark truth behind the 10th Hunger Games. As fans of the series know, Snow ultimately becomes the ruthless president of Panem. In this prequel we get the opportunity to understand the origin behind his character and the factors that shaped him.

For many, the backstory of the “Hunger Games” series lies not only in the thrilling action packed and dystopian setting, but also in the deep themes it explores. Poverty, Wealth, Power, and Violence, and the “ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is expected to continue these themes, providing viewers with the same Capitol versus Districts storyline.

When the first Hunger Games filmed was released in 2012, it ignited discussions about social justice, political power and the consequences of our choices. With this New Prequel coming to theaters soon it is set to rekindle these conversations to a new generation of fans.
