The Stanley cup rapidly became popular due to the use of social media. In 2016, Stanley released the new 40 ounce product. It did not do as well as they had hoped and Stanley decided not to restock them. Then a group of women bloggers at The Buy Guide started to embrace the Stanley Quencher. Once they blogged about it and linked it, more people started to buy it causing Stanley to restock the Quencher. Their target market was millennials and Gen Z. From then on, the purchases of Stanley products grew due to social media. But, it didn’t officially “blow up” until early 2022.
The more people bought, posted, and shared about Stanley, the more products they were selling. People are influenced by things so easily by what they see online. People just started discovering Stanley when people started posting it, but they had no idea that Stanley had existed for 110 years.
Ultimately, The Buy Guide is solely responsible for the success of the Stanley because without them, they would have simply given up and stop selling the product. After The Buy Guide started marketing it, so did other bloggers and influencers. That is the main reason why Stanley cups suddenly became a product you cannot go anywhere without seeing. But, this just proves the philosophy that “you must fail to succeed.” The Stanley never would have blown up the way it did if it weren’t for its setback in 2016.
