Jaguars Star Cornerback Requests a Trade

Jacksonville Jaguars star cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, has reportedly requested a trade from the team, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport. Ramsey was selected fifth overall in the 2016 NFL draft and has blossomed into one of the NFL’s best players.

The report surfaced after the team’s 13-12 loss against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Ramsey’s relationship with the Jaguars began to rot after he called out the teams’ defensive coordinator, Todd Wash, for his bad play-calling in the team’s 24-20 loss in the AFC Championship against the New England Patriots. Ramsey grew angrier with the team after they denied him a contract extension this offseason.

Ramsey’s last straw with the Jaguars was on Sunday, September 15, when video surfaced of him and the team’s head coach, Doug Marrone, getting into a heated altercation on the sidelines. The two had to be separated by players and coaches.

After the game, Ramsey’s agent asked the team to make it known that the star cornerback wanted to be traded to another team.. “ I didn’t want this to go public” Ramsey said to local media. He expressed that all he cares about is winning. Since the team’s loss in the AFC Championship, the Jaguars are a combined 5-13, and finished last in their division last season.

Two teams have called the Jaguars and offered a trade for Ramsey, according to Bleacher Report. Rappoport tweeted on September 16  that Ramsey is unlikely to be traded before the teams game on Thursday night against the Titans, but league executives believe Ramsey will be traded on Friday.
