With four months of the school year remaining, freshmen are having mixed emotions about the year coming to an end. We are about a month into the second semester and many are expressing the fact that they miss their old schedule. “I miss my first semester classes because they were easier and had more of my friends in them,” explains Samantha Damato, Freshman at SJV. Many students agree, along with another freshman, Alexie Orendorff. “The were more interactive and less lecture.” Samantha also said that her favorite class this semester is Journalism and English. Her least favorite class is math. Now, students are picking their classes for next year.
Along with yearning for our old schedules, students also are becoming eager for summer. Some are having feelings of sadness that their first year of high school is over, and they will never get to experience the feeling of the first day ever again. Samatha Damato says that she “will miss her first year of high school but can’t wait to see what the next three years will bring.”
After asking many students in the class of ‘28, a lot of them said that freshman year went by easier and faster than they expected. “A class that was easier than expected for me was Honors Biology,” said Alexis McAlmond, a freshman at SJV. Many agree with her, including Sierra Brayboy and Gianna Sano, also freshmen at SJV. “A class that I took that was harder than I thought was Spanish II,” said Samantha Damato.
Seniors at SJV have their last day of school in May, while the rest of the school ends in June. Although the school year coming to an end is a hard pill to swallow, it is one we will all have to at some point.
