After a long and dreadful offseason, the 30th season of MLS is back this Saturday. With their 30th team joining this year, San Diego FC, this season is going to be unbelievable. The league keeps growing, the competition keeps getting better, and fans are in for an absolute treat. With new faces, big transfers, and teams looking for redemption, there is no telling how this season will go. According to MLS.com, the top power rankings for the 2025 season are already set. At number one, Inter Miami. They have one of the strongest squads ever, led by the greatest player of all time, Lionel Messi. But last year, they were stunned in the first round of the playoffs by ninth-seed Atlanta in a colossal upset. So the big question is, are they a bust, or will Messi lead them to their second MLS Cup? With Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets alongside Messi, this team has the talent, but can they stay healthy and prove they are more than just a big-name squad? Coming in at number two, Seattle Sounders. Seattle had an insane season last year, making it all the way to the semifinals before falling to the eventual champions, LA Galaxy, in a heartbreaking one-to-zero loss. They are always a tough team and they are hungry to get back to the top. They have a mix of experience and youth, and if they can find consistency, they will be dangerous all year long. And at number three, FC Cincinnati. They are basically the Dallas Cowboys of the MLS. Every year, they dominate the regular season but when it comes to the playoffs, they just cannot get it done. Could this finally be their year to lift their first-ever MLS Cup? Newcomer Kevin Denkey is supposed to be their missing piece. Will he be the star that leads them to glory or was all that money wasted? They have a strong roster, but they need to prove they can win when it matters most. This season is packed with must-watch action. The first week of MLS play is set and it is already looking wild. The season opener kicks off at four thirty PM on Saturday with LAFC versus Minnesota United. After that, we have Atlanta versus Montreal and then the New York Red Bulls take on FC Cincinnati. With so many great teams starting off strong, we are in for some fireworks right out of the gate. Last season’s MLS Cup Final was a battle with LA Galaxy defeating New York Red Bulls in an intense showdown. The Red Bulls fought hard but the Galaxy proved why they were the best team in the league. LA’s defense shut down everything New York threw at them. Now, every team is coming for the crown, and this season is anyone’s to take. With superstars, upsets, and insane matchups ahead, the 2025 MLS season is going to be wild. Buckle up because it is going to be one crazy ride. There is no telling who will surprise the league, who will disappoint, and who will rise when the playoffs come around. One thing is for sure, it is going to be a season to remember.
