On Tuesday, December 3, both boys and girls bowling started their seasons off with amazing wins.

The boys’ team, led by captain Nick Scelfo, defeated Mater Dei with a 3-0 score. The girls, led by captain Nicolette Lupo, followed behind finishing with a 3-0 score against Mater Dei.

Both teams had key players to help with the win. For the girls, junior Olivia Cleaves finished with a high game of 201 and a series of 513. Scelfo, a senior, finished the first match of the season with a series of 629 and junior, Eric Hoffman had a high game of 224.

On Thursday, December 5, the girls defeated Keansburg with another 3-0 win. Lupo finished with a 478 series. Although the boys lost 0-3 to Keansburg, they still held strong. Scelfo finished with a series of 614 and Hoffman with a high game of 239.

The girls hope to have an even better season than last year. The team brought back seven of their players, senior Lupo, juniors Cleaves and Victoria Chmielowicz, and sophomores Kristi Gambino, Evonne Scott, Taylor Castineira, and Stephanie Brogna. The girls also have two additional players this season, sophomore Amanda Skunakis and freshman Christina McLaughlin.

The boys hope to keep their first place title.  They also brought back seven of their players from last season, Seniors Scelfo and Jeremy Stevens, juniors Eric Hoffman and Brandon Bennett, and sophomores Joe Greene and Ed Pietri. The boys gained three additional players, freshmen Justin Johnson, James Donaghy, and Alex Short .
